I! AM! TOO! EXCITED! TO! BE! WRITING!
Today I’m seeing Bruce Springsteen for the first time. He’s one of my favourite artists, I have wanted to see him for years but we all know how expensive tickets are. BUT IT’S HAPPENING TODAY!
My anxiety issues seem to be calming down, finally, and I’m now just excited for the next week and a half (I go on holiday in two days!). I’m just feeling generally much cheerier than I was last week. I’m also loving Game of Thrones. I’m pretty certain this is the best series yet. I can’t feature it here every week, though.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DIDN’T LIKE IT? I have read so many reviews slating this movie and while I don’t think it’s the best of the new series (because, of course, First Class is) I do think it was really quite brilliant. I love that there is no real, defined villain in X-Men or for me at least. I won’t go into too much detail because I don’t want to give spoilers but I would happily watch it again. And again. X-Men movies are the best Marvel movies. Fight me.
Me Before You
I feel like I’m now just writing about popular things at the moment but of course, I jumped onto the bandwagon with this book and of course, I love it. It’s not perfectly written, it’s not flawless but it is a bloody good read. I love a good love story and I’m all for shattering the idea that romance novels are somehow lesser than others. I really recommend this.
My new header
The wonderful Jemma at Dorkface worked with me to create a new blog/Facebook header that is absolutely *perfect* for me. It was so affordable and Jemma was prompt in both replying to emails and creating the header. She also provided 5 choices! I highly recommend her if you’re after a new look!
Over the past year or so, I’ve had less and less time to myself. Between work commitments and the plans I’ve made with friends, I very rarely spend time alone. But, because the subway in Glasgow will be closed next month (bang in the middle of tourist season, very good), I’ve been pre-emptively taking the bus to work. It does take longer but it means that the journey to and from work is “Me-Time” where I can read, listen to podcasts or even just take the world in and it’s so calming. Not jumping between different forms of transport and instead sailing along… Anyway. Sorry.
I can’t believe it’s happening today. I’m going to cry so much. I just can’t wait. It’s a gorgeous day here in Glasgow and being with my best girl, her lovely dad and (apparently?!) 50,000 odd other fans watching and singing along to Springsteen in the sunshine… It doesn’t really get much better.
Top tracks (for me):
- Thunder Road
“Show a little faith, there’s magic in the night”
“For the ones who had a notion, a notion deep inside,
That it ain’t no sin to be glad you’re alive”
- Tougher than the Rest
“The road is dark
And it’s a thin thin line
But I want you to know I’ll walk it for you any time”
- The River
“Is a dream a lie if it don’t come true
Or is it something worse?”
- Born to Run (obviously.)
“I’ll love you with all the madness in my soul”
(Special mention also to: Hungry Heart, Leah, Better Days & Dancing in the Dark) (And every other song he’s ever written/covered).
The amazing thing with Bruce Springsteen is just how bloody versatile he is. If you have a job interview, or a particularly daunting thing coming up, fire some Springsteen on and BELIEVE IN YOURSELF. If you’re feeling loved up and ready to take on the world with your partner, send them a Springsteen song. If you feel like this world is gonna eat you alive but you are determined to fight it, SPRINGSTEEN WILL FIGHT YOUR CORNER WITH YOU.
I won’t be posting this next week as I’ll be in Spain but you can assume my favourite things are: reading, drinking, walking and relaxing. And hopefully I love sangrias too as I’ve really built them up to be amazing in my head.
